Cookson Electronics Assembly Materials (CEAM) has formally opened its new Alpha Solder Paste production plant in Dunaharaszti Hungary on 26th May 2009. The new, 1500m3 facility has taken just over a year to complete and is totally self sufficient in both solder paste & paste flux production.
Designed on flow-line principles with an emphasis on Lean Manufacturing, the new “clean” manufacturing plant has a capacity of some 350,000 kg of solder paste per annum together with the requisite volumes of paste flux. Leaded & Lead-Free manufacturing areas are physically segregated in order to accommodate RoHS requirements. The new production unit is attached to the existing Cookson Electronics facility that already accommodates a sales office, technical laboratories and a laser cut stencil manufacturing operation.
Some 70 guests attended the opening with the formal ceremony being carried out jointly by Rick Ertmann, President CEAM & David Crimp, Executive VP CEAM Europe.
In a humorous speech, Crimp acknowledged the opening as the culmination of a dream hatched several years ago. He also paid tribute to the Operations Team who had managed the project from inception to conclusion… on time.
A local priest blessed the plant in the traditional manner and after a conducted tour of the site, local folk dancers and singer’s entertained guests. Later in the day, Dr. Laszlo Redey, Managing Director CEAM Kft. Hungary hosted a dinner for guests and Cookson personnel with local operational responsibilities.
Based on the outskirts of Dunaharaszti, some 30 minutes SW of the capital Budapest the new, state-of-the-art plant is strategically located to service & support the numerous OEM’s & Subcontractors in the region.
