Speedprint Technology Ltd., a division of Blakell Europlacer Group, announces Gemini Data Loggers investment in its Speedprint SP210avi.

Gemini Data Loggers, the company behind the Tinytag electronic data recorders, was established in 1984. Based in the UK, Gemini Data Loggers first produced the Tinytalk temperature data logger to its own design in 1992, choosing the same year to begin international trade through distributors such as RS Components and Intab Interface.

Gemini Data Loggers quickly expanded its product range with a relative humidity logger in 1993, before going on to produce the first Tinytag and Tinyview loggers in 1994 and 1996. Around this time there was significant expansion with Gemini Data Loggers successfully exporting to Japan (1994), the Pacific Rim countries, including Australia (1995), India (1996) and South Africa (1996).

Gemini Data Loggers now trades globally with a network of more than 40 distributors.

In addition to manufacturing Tinytag data loggers, all Tinytag hardware, firmware and software are designed in-house, enabling tight quality control and the flexibility to quickly meet customer needs. Proud of its innovative designs, Gemini Data Loggers is committed to ongoing product development with 10 percent of its revenue spent on development.

With increasing demand, Gemini has focused on developing its manufacturing capabilities with significant investment being made in the last 12 months. The latest investment being the Speedprint SP210avi stencil printer from Speedprint Technology, based in Poole Dorset.

Until this investment, Gemini Data Logger’s printing capability was limited to a desktop manual system. With semiautomatic stencil printers being the next logical step for Gemini, both Ian Gander, Managing Director, and Craig Scott, Production Manager, evaluated the options and soon realized that the semiautomatic machines did not provide the advantages that it required from the investment. They came to the conclusion that they are no faster than manual printers when many different boards are printed each day, due to many setup changes. Craig Scott commented that these solutions still depended too much on the skill of the operator and the company wanted to remove this variable from the process.

For Gemini, the SP210avi met every requirement and the added bonus of 2D solder paste inspection. Speedprint provides quality local manufacturing with excellent local support and quick delivery times. The flexible, user-friendly interface and compact footprint made it an easy decision. Though simple, the software enables experienced users to vary virtually any parameter, enabling the user to print perfectly. With Speedprint’s fully automatic system, Gemini is now able to train any operator to produce good quality, repeatable prints in less than half a day.
