Armstrong Optical Ltd of Northampton is pleased to announce a distribution agreement with SmarAct GmbH of Oldenburg, Germany that will bring the innovative SmarAct products to the UK for the first time.

SmarAct GmbH is a manufacturer of sophisticated products for micro- and nano-positioning and manipulation. The product portfolio ranges from positioners, advanced control systems to end effectors and tools for micro- and nano-environments. The piezo-based linear and rotary positioners are offered with scaleable control systems so that they are just as suitable for simple operations as for complex automations. Additionally, complete miniaturised robotic systems are available that are capable of very precise tasks and which can be tailored to meet the exact requirements of end-users due to their modular design.

The individual positioners are completely modular, enabling systems to be fitted together and extended to meet the exact requirements of the user. They allow for movement with absolute precision and are able to apply high forces. Because of the very small dimensions of some of the positioners, they can be used for demanding manipulations in very small spaces. The product range is complemented with sophisticated and scaleable control systems. Open interfaces make it possible to integrate the products into existing applications.

The product portfolio covers a wide range of applications for industry and research, including microscopy (light, SEM, SPM etc); micro and precision processing; micro manufacturing and micro automation; quality assurance; metrology; material testing; semiconductor technology.
