The 2020 Awards Ceremony was held at SMTAi Virtual on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020
Winners will not be notified beforehand.
Shortlisted companies will receive a written invitation to the GLOBAL Technology Awards Presentation Ceremony.
The GLOBAL Technology Awards are not affiliated with any advertising program in any manner. Winners are judged solely upon the merits of their product submissions.
It is the judges’ option to not award a winner in a given category.
Materials submitted for competition become the property of Trafalgar Publications Ltd and will not be returned.
Entries must be postmarked or e-mailed by July 17, 2020.
All entries to be submitted in English language only.
Entries will be judged by a panel of independent adjudicators.
You may enter as many categories as you wish.
Submit one entry form per category per product/service.
The completed entry form(s) must be submitted by the person responsible for submitting the entry.
Entries are non-returnable unless clearly requested otherwise. The judges’ decision is final; no correspondence will be entered into by any member of the judging panel.
All winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.
Awards winners may state in advertising or in promotional material, or on their stationery that they have been winners. They must include the awards logo, category and the year in which they have won.

The judging process will be handled through independent judges not affiliated with Global SMT & Packaging Magazine or Trafalgar Publications in any official way. The balloting process, including vote compilations, will be handled entirely by an independent market research firm.
The GLOBAL Technology Awards have recognized the very best new innovations in the printed circuit assembly and packaging industries since 2005.
Entries are invited from equipment, materials and EMS companies of all sizes. Entries will be judged by an independent, international panel of judges.
In addition to the award statue, winners receive publicity in a special awards issue of each of Global SMT & Packaging magazine’s three editions (International, China & Southeast Asia) as well as on the Global SMT & Packaging and GLOBAL Technology Award websites and in the Global SMT & Packaging email newsletters. Winners also receive a small poster for use at trade shows and an image and logo for use in advertising, websites and other promotional materials.
Capital equipment will be judged on:
- Innovation
- Speed/throughput improvements
- Quality contribution
- Cost benefits
- Environmental consideration
- Ease of use/implementation
- Maintainability/repair ability
Adhesives/Coatings and Underfills will be judged on:
- Innovation
- Curing Method/Time
- Conductivity
- Cost benefits
- Environmental consideration
- Reworkability
- Thermal range
Cleaning materials will be judged on:
- Innovation
- Drying time
- Concentration
- Cost benefits
- Environmental consideration
- Toxicity
- Compliance
Distributors will be judged on:
- Average sales volume per head (past calendar year – employees/sales)
- Number of service engineers
- Number of product lines
- Number of performance awards from principals (past 12 months)
EMS companies will be judged on:
- First pass yield – How high is their first pass yield?
- Accreditations – How many different accreditations?
- Capabilities – What capabilities (test, cleaning, inspection etc)?
- Markets served – How many different market segments do they address?
- Environmental – How environmentally friendly are they?
- Prototyping turnaround – How fast can they turn out a first article prototype?
- Changeover speed – How fast can they changeover a line?
Most Improved Smart Factory will be judged on:
- M2M and Process control software systems
- Robotics and factory logistics
- Simulation and visualisation (e.g. digital twin)
- Augmented reality capability
- Additive manufacturing capability
- Business intelligence systems (scheduling etc.)
Submission of a separate entry is required for each category your product or service is entered into. For example, the same product entered into two categories means two separate entry forms and fees.
All entries must be accompanied by:
Official entry form, submitted through the online form or via fax, email (photocopies are ok). Payment of the US $750 entry fee per entry. Payment can be made via PayPal, credit card, check, or wire transfer.
A PDF or Word file containing technical product literature and/or product specifications emailed to accounts@globalsmt.net High resolution product image (minimum 3” x 5” at 300 dpi as a .tif or .jpg file) and/or short video clip e-mailed to accounts@globalsmt.net
A high-resolution or print-ready company logo, emailed to awards@globalsmt.net. The company name, product name and 250-word product or service description entered on the entry form will be used verbatim for judging and award purposes.
2020 Winners ceremony will be held at Virtual Ceremony online.
